"When I was ten I read fairy tales in secret and would have been ashamed if I had been found doing so. Now that I am fifty I read them openly. When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up." ~ C.S. Lewis

I'm up to book four in The Chronicles of Narnia again. They're a sad read from the point of view of an adult.

I just watched one of the major apartment buildings in my complex burn to the ground in a massive conflaguration.

Doors being kicked in to save the oblivious, wailing and gnashing of teeth, we had it all.

At this point, I am unsure as to whether there were injuries or deaths. Both are a high possibility.

It appears that the money has been moved in the
president's budget to handle homeland security and the war in Iraq, and
I suppose that's the price we pay. Nobody locally is happy that the
levees can't be finished, and we are doing everything we can to make
the case that this is a security issue for us.

I almost became one with an urban legend this weekend. On a break from playing volleyball, I drank a yellowjacket wasp from a soda can. Luckily, my own sense of self preservation kept it out of my throat, and the "stung in the windpipe, throat closed up and she died" legend. I escaped with a rather nasty sting to the face. Right underneath and on the right side of my lip, to be precise.

I work with the public in five hours, and I look like I have horselips.

Interesting side comment also; since I've been working in the public eye again, (it's been a number of years), I've found that people seem to have lost all tact when it comes to mentioning something they don't like about strangers. To them. Sometimes in front of their kids. This is pervasive enough that I fully expect to be asked "Whoa! What's wrong with your face?" by customers today.

Should be a party.

11:18 pm - :(
"We are all wired into a survival trip now. No more of the speed that fueled that 60's. That was the fatal flaw in Tim Leary's trip. He crashed around America selling 'consciousness expansion' without ever giving a thought to the grim meat-hook realities that were lying in wait for all the people who took him seriously... All those pathetically eager acid freaks who thought they could buy Peace and Understanding for three bucks a hit. But their loss and failure is ours too. What Leary took down with him was the central illusion of a whole life-style that he helped create... a generation of permanent cripples, failed seekers, who never understood the essential old-mystic fallacy of the Acid Culture: the desperate assumption that somebody... or at least some force - is tending the light at the end of the tunnel."

Just like i expected, everything has gone down hill recently. Everything financially, anyhow.
Life seems to like pulling the rug out, just when i feel most secure. Little things pile up, and then fall on my head, which is surprisingly fragile. Yep, i thought i had career potential again, but i'm beginning to think a stable job, and all of that stuff that keeps everyone else sane, well, that's not my lot.

First time i had that idea was stargate. I figured out pretty quickly that if i stuck around there, though, i'd always feel like i missed something. Seems to be my problem, really, that "grass is greener" mentality. Hell with it, i should just drink more beer.

Dear God,

If you are merciful, you will maintain a special section of hell for the eBay user that bid on all of the following three items:

Celebrity Deathmatch - Greatest Hits (1999) VHS

If you are feeling especially generous, then you will make this person explode immediately.

I'm sorry I don't really believe in you,

PS. Could you make Nick Cave go on a real killing rampage, on people that I

As an aside, this little communique was sheer genius, and I reproduce it here for your pleasure.
(I work for the Safeharbor department, at eBay)

"It was not your doing to suspend the account, it was some called
SafeHarbor, they suspended me for wrong reason. I will pay when the account is restored first and that is legal order.
Safeharbor is suspending me illegal so I wait for their response
otherwise you
will pay court orders"

*'Cause that would be really cool

Wouldn't want to pause your tribute to Reggie White either.
